Frequently Asked Questions

What you might want to know

I've answered common questions about tutoring, how it works, what to expect, and more about me. Hopefully this helps - but feel free to ask anything else!

I tutor any level up to A Level, so that includes 11 Plus, GCSE and A Level. I can also tutor for the TMUA, the Cambridge Admissions Test for Computer Science and Economics.
I do a free 15-20 minute introduction session where I introduce myself, get to know what sort of struggles you have, so I can prepare for the first real tutoring session.
I charge £25 per hour.
I will prepare some content to revise, but I will go with the flow and explore and teach any concepts that the student requires. I will have an overhead camera so the student can see what I am writing on paper. We will go through questions and talk through how to go about solving them, reinforcing concepts.
If you would like to receive some extra work to do in between sessions, I am very happy to curate this, it will reinforce what we learned in a session. However, I do understand that students get a lot of homework, so you can decide each week if you want some or not.
Yes, I can help with any topic from any syllabus. You just need to let me know what you are struggling with, and I will try to help you understand the topic and be able to answer exam questions about it.
No, not at the moment.
I do, I had a DBS check in 2024 when I worked as a young leader in scouting. So I have an enhanced DBS certificate with no problems, which I can send an image of upon request.

I loved maths growing up, always learning and helping others to understand the concepts. I loved learning the content and developing my skills in maths. I achieved a 9 (A*) in GCSE maths, then at A Level I achieved an A* in maths and further maths. I explored maths outside of the classroom, learning beyond the curriculum, which ultimately helped me to pick up new concepts more easily. I also have always loved teaching people and helping my classmates with maths, especially in Further Maths A Level.

I then decided to do computer science at University. I applied to Cambridge and then, after doing the Maths-based admissions test (TMUA) and mathematical interview questions, I got in to study for 3 years. I will enter my second year at Cambridge in October.

During my time at Cambridge, I have learned even more maths as it constituted 1/4 of the course, and there was more maths as a computer science course as well, which builds and goes beyond A Level.

I did the TMUA, so I know the content and structure. I don't do any other Admissions tests other than the TMUA.
Maths is the main subject that I tutor, but I can teach Computer Science too.
